Meditation Blog

One of the things I have been doing consistently for several years is meditating on Scripture. A number of the Psalms speak of the power of meditation. Some people are afraid of the term “meditation” because it sounds like something from an Eastern religion. But the way the Bible instructs us to meditate is to focus on something, in particular, we are to focus on Scripture. When we do, it’s called “discursive meditation.” Brain scientists all agree on the healing power of meditation on our brain–something the Bible knew all along. I will be posting on this blog two times a week–Monday and Thursday,. As you read each post, you can simply read what I wrote, or better yet, you can first read over the passage several times on your own, write out your insights, and then read what struck me in passage.. I started with the book of Galatians, then went through Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians. I’ve also looked at the first 15 Psalms. I’ve worked through most of the New Testament and am now in John’s Gospel. I use the New Living Translation.
