Galatians

Galatians 5:1-6:

So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.

Listen! I, Paul, tell you this: If you are counting on circumcision to make you right with God, then Christ will be of no benefit to you. I’ll say it again. If you are trying to find favor with God by being circumcised, you must obey every regulation in the whole law of Moses. For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.

But we who live by the Spirit eagerly wait to receive by faith the righteousness God has promised to us. For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love.

Freedom!  We are free:

1. From the Law

2.  From a rule-based lifestyle

3.  From my having to make myself right with God

4.  From having to “earn” grace

5.  From damnation and fear.

The positive expression of our freedom is to live by “faith, expressing that faith in (the Law of) Love.

My freedom exists because I have received the righteousness of Christ.  And because I now stand covered by the cloak of Christ’s righteousness, I am then free from a fear-based faith and live with a love-based faith!

Again, we have a choice.  Which path are you on?

Great post. You’re where I was about fifteen years ago. I did a deep study of Galatians back then, and it relaly forced me to adjust my thinking about grace & faith, law & works. Nothing radical, mind you, but definitely more biblical. Naturally, it raised some eyebrows among some brethren, as you will discover soon enough. You’re on the right path. Keep studying and growing, brother.

  2. nice list..really helpful.
